lmer Gerhardt Pruim, Jr., 88, of Orlando, passed away April 2, 2019.
He was born in Chicago, Illinois on October 30, 1930. Elmer graduated from Chicago Christian High School and served three years in the United States Army. He was married to Marguerite Ann Huizenga on September 16, 1960. Elmer worked as a lineman, then began working for himself buying a dairy route. In 1971 he bought into business with his brothers and ran Barding Disposal Service. In 1982 they sold the business and Elmer began “retirement.” He spent 20 years volunteering and working at Orangewood Christian School, where he was fondly known as “Pruim Time.” He also spent many years officiating youth and high school baseball and volleyball. He was a member of Orangewood Church and was always willing to help behind the scenes. He was preceded in death by his wife Marguerite, his late parents, Elmer Gerhardt Pruim, Sr. and Henrietta Van Zyl Pruim, and his sisters Johanna Pruim Tiggelaar and Marge Pruim Deckinga. He is survived by his children Elmer III (Lisa) Pruim, Diane (Don) Langmo, Nancy Pruim, Carol (Brian) Phipps; brothers Hank (Evie) Pruim and Ron (Bev) Pruim; grandchildren Jennifer (Desmond) Jordon, Julia (Paul) Prestia, Jana (Wil) Pinkley, Jackie Langmo, Hannah Phipps, Christopher Langmo, Jamie Pruim, Sam Phipps, Caleb Phipps, Garrett Langmo, Jenna Langmo, Kennedy Langmo and Kaleigh Langmo; and great-grandchildren Mason Prestia, Cody Prestia, Palmer Jordan, Dean Prestia, Theodore Pinkley, Marguerite Jordan, and Amelia Pinkley. Arrangements have been entrusted to Woodlawn Funeral Home in Gotha, Florida.
Visitation is Friday, April 5 from 10:00am – 11:00am and the Celebration of Life service been Friday, April 5 at 11:00 am.
