Daniel Mize Quigley of Eustis, Florida died Wednesday, June 5, 2019 peacefully with his beloved wife and family by his side.
Daniel was born in Winter Garden, Florida September 29, 1944 to Harvey and Mettie Quigley. He was the youngest of 3 children.
Upon graduating from Lakeview High School in 1962, Daniel took after his oldest brother whom he admired greatly and joined the United States Air Force. He spent most of his 4 years of service in Spokane, Washington serving as a military policeman guarding airplanes.
After the Air Force, he returned to Winter Garden where he hired on with Western Electric. He continued to work in telecommunications and retired from Lucent Technologies after 35 years of service.
In May of 1968, he married the love of his life, Lynn Campbell. They have been happily married for over 50 years and have spent very little time away from each other. Daniel had little fear of dying, only fear of being separated from her.
Daniel and Lynn became parents in 1977 to their only child, Shannon. In 1979 they built their dream home in Apopka, FL where they continued to live till the 429 expansion took their home in 2013. He spent his remaining years overlooking Lake Joanna in Eustis, Florida.
Daniel loved all types of music and spent many hours sitting on his porch with his family laughing while listening to Ray Stevens, rocking out to Kenny Loggins, Whitney Houston, and Rod Stewart, and shedding a tear to Celine Dion, Merle Haggard, and George Jones.
He was a strong patriarch of his family, a good friend to many, a man who was passionate about liberty and justice for all, and someone who while growing up in a very racially divided period in America, learned to see no difference in people.
He was a beloved husband, father, and grandfather who did his best to lead by example. The only thing he loved more than his family, was his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Daniel was a strong, proud, and godly man. He will be greatly missed by many!
He is preceded in death by his parents, Harvey Daniel Quigley and Mettie Ann Mize.
Mr. Quigley is survived by his loving wife, Lynn Campbell Quigley of Eustis, FL; his only beloved child, Shannon (Matthew) King of Raleigh, NC; six wonderful grandchildren, Shelby (Jonathan) Steele, Zachariah King, Kyleigh King, Jamie King, Mattie King, and Jaxson King all of Raleigh, NC; brother, Edward Rutherford of Freeport, FL; sister, Shirley Barton of Orlando, FL; and many nieces and nephews whom he loved greatly.
